Tennessee Armed Training
The Tennessee armed security guard is required to be licensed and to obtain the state license the applicant must meet certain criteria. The things the armed security guard must have is a license to carry a weapon, they must have training that includes an examination and have had specified training. The other requirements for licensing are:
They must have completed the amount of training hours and passed an exam.
Three fingerprint cards must be submitted, which will be processed by both the TBI and the FBI in doing a criminal background check.
The applicant must be of good moral character and be legally mentally competent.
The applicant must not have any disability that would prevent them from performing their duties.
The applicant must not have been on probation within the last 5 years for any serious crimes or crimes that involved firearms, violence or shoplifting.
The applicant must not have a record of habitual drunkenness, or have a narcotics addiction or dependency.
Education in the general duties of an armed security guard
Weapons training, including devices that are not lethal
Emergency training and procedures
There is a Tennessee armed security guard regulation that requires the applicant to complete eight classroom hours for firearms training including
The safety and maintenance of a fire arm
The person applying to the state for an armed security guard license is required to attend four hours of training for marksmanship. During this training there must be a minimum of 70% achieved on the silhouette target course.
When the armed guard will carry other types of weapons there are training requirements prior to the license being issued to the applicant? These weapons include stun guns, chemical spray, night sticks, a club and other non-lethal devices. A certificate will be issued after training by a certified trainer, and will be shown to any legal authority when demanded.
The armed security guard license is valid for a two year period, after this if the applicant is still employed as an armed guard the license must be renewed.
The license armed security guard in Tennessee will find employment throughout the security industry, for both private and public duty assignments such as:
Malls and retail locations
Government and state offices
Private office buildings
Housing and apartment areas
Tennessee Unarmed Training
The Tennessee unarmed security guard must hold a state license and in order to obtain this licensing the person must successfully complete an application and meet all the guidelines. The requirements for an unarmed security guard in the state of Tennessee are:
Be of good moral character
They must be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
The applicant should have no disability that will affect their duties as an unarmed security guard
The applicant will not have been on probation within the past 5 years for serious crimes that include firearms, violence or shoplifting
The applicant will provide three fingerprint cards, which will be processed by the TBI and FBI criminal background check
The applicant will not have a history of habitual drunkenness, a narcotics addiction or dependency.
The applicant will have attended training at a state certified training facility
The training that is required by the state of Tennessee to obtain an unarmed security guard license is four hours, with one hour each of:
Education in the legal powers and limitations of the unarmed security guard
Educated in the general duties of an unarmed security guard
There is a requirement for the unarmed security guard in Tennessee that will use chemical spray, a nightstick or club, and any other type of non-lethal device while on duty. A certified trainer must provide the training. The unarmed security guard will present the certification when demanded by the commissioner, or an authorized agent, including full time law enforcement officers.
The unarmed security guard will find employment in the security sector in various locations; these can include both private and public locations. The duties of the unarmed security officer can include protecting the public or a location from criminal activity. The areas where the unarmed security guard might find employment in the state of Tennessee include:
Malls and other retail locations
Housing and apartment areas
Parks and other public locations
Government and state offices
Private office buildings
The person that has properly filled out the Tennessee unarmed security guard license will have the training and skills to work within these types of locations and be educated to handle situations that could arise where protection is needed from criminal activity. The unarmed guard will also be ready to handle emergency situations and work with law enforcement officials.
